Oct 12, 2020

Mid Cities 2 @ TX RoadRunners 4 – After falling behind early, the RoadRunners roared back with three unanswered tallies to fuel a 4-2 win over the Stars and build some positive momentum to start the season. Jacob Norwood, Anthony Lautz, Derek Boutin and Garrett Wilderman chipped in up front for Texas, in front of a 37-save effort by Aidan Rudolf. Todd Thompson and Kai Rock scored for Mid Cities as Nahuel Veyan made a stunning 47 saves in the loss.

Mid Cities 2 @ TX RoadRunners 1 – Tayten Lewis put the RoadRunners ahead early, but a pair of Michael Fatta goals and a stunning 53-save effort by Nahuel Veyan in goal helped the Stars launch a comeback and take a 2-1 win on the road on Saturday. Max Hetman put in a solid shift for Texas, stopping 19 pucks in the loss.

Mid Cities 1 @ TX RoadRunners 6 – Kai Rock struck for Mid Cities early in this one, but the offense stopped there for the Stars as the RoadRunners rattled off six unanswered goals for a 6-1 win on Sunday. Jacob Norwood, Michael Conover, Tim Marsico, Tayten Lewis, Derek Boutin and Seth Payson drove the Texas offense with a goal apiece, and Hunter Hein turned aside 28 shots between the pipes. Mid Cities’ Nathan King was outstanding in net despite the loss, stopping 42 shots in a busy game.

Speaking with Head Coach Mike Beavis after Sunday’s game he had this to say;  “I think the guys played OK this weekend and it’s an adjustment period for sure with most of our guys.  The younger players never know what to expect, but things went well and we were able to come away with a couple wins on opening weekend.”

Beavis went onto praise the Jr. Stars goaltender Nahuel Veyan stating he was just unbeatable for the most part and was undoubtedly the top star of Saturday nights contest.  Beavis also said that he saw some very good things from his team this weekend but still realizes there is still much work to be done in preparation for next weekend as the Runners will hit the road to OKC to take on the Blazers next Friday and Saturday at 7 PM.  Please tune into hockeytv.com to catch all the live action.
