The Texas RoadRunners have tendered Defenseman Jake Lyons from the Clearwater Ice Storm U-18 AA. Lyons, the 17 year old from Riverview, FL. Is an impressive 6’4″ 200 lb player that will be a big addition to the Runners blue-line.
“We were looking to replace some size on our back end and Jake brings that to the table for sure. One thing we can’t teach is size the other is work ethic and we feel that Jake will bring both of those things along with his skill set to the team next season.” states Runners coach Mike Beavis.
Lyons, played last season with the Clearwater Ice Storm U 18 program in the NAPHL. After playing forward for several seasons he moved to defense last season which according to Jake was a fun challenge ! “Our team had success playing in the NAPHL showcase division, and we went to the State Championship where we lost in a close contest to the Florida Jr. Panthers. I look forward to developing as a defensive player with the Texas RoadRunners next season and working collaboratively with teammates, and maturing as a young adult.” stated Lyons.
The RoadRunners are looking forward to 2020-2021 and feel that with the off season signings that they will be team that will compete for a top spot in the South division and who knows where that will take them from there.
