Runners look to Rebound after a tough trip to OKC

Oct 23, 2020

The Texas RoadRunners dropped to 3-2-0 last weekend as they traveled to OKC to take on the expansion Blazers in a two game set.

In game one on Friday evening the Runners played well through two periods but ran out of gas in the third and were held scoreless as the host team from OKC cruised to a 6-0 upset of the Runners.

TX RoadRunners 0 @ Oklahoma City 6 – Fueled by a four-goal third period and a 19-save shutout from Jacob Ahl in net, the Blazers kept their hot start to life in the NA3HL going with a 6-0 win over the RoadRunners on Friday. Artem Korolev and Hunter Warner each lit the lamp twice, with Ben Mullen and Tristan Warr chipping in a goal apiece as well. Texas goaltender Aidan Rudolf stopped 33 pucks in the loss.

Saturday evening was much of the same for the relatively young RoadRunners squad as once again they were held scoreless for the second time in as many nights.

TX RoadRunners 0 @ Oklahoma City 4 – After slamming the door on the RoadRunners Friday night, the Blazers again shut down their opponents with a 20-save shutout from Jacob Ahl and goals from four different skaters in a 4-0 victory. Michael Onda, Hunter Warner, Noah Henslee and William Wallace provided the offense in this one, with Artem Korolev chipping in three helpers along the way. Texas goaltender Hunter Hein turned aside 22 shots in the loss.

‘We played OK through the first two periods in both games but just couldn’t get pucks to bounce our way.  That coupled with a few guys out of the line-up with bumps and bruises made it a bit tough as well.” stated Runners Coach Mike Beavis

The Runners are expecting a couple guys back this weekend as well as some help on the way over the next week as they have been speaking with a few players that can fill some holes in the line-up and solidify things for the season.

The team will be looking to get back on track this weekend at home as they host division rivals the “Atlanta Capitals” in a three game set at the “Spirit Ice Arena” in Bryan / College Station.  The two teams will face off Friday and Saturday evening at 6:15 PM and Sunday at 2:15 PM.  Friday evenings game features “Youth Hockey night” where all all youth hockey players wearing their teams jersey will be admitted free of charge… Cant pass that up !  So stop by and catch all the action of your Texas RoadRunners or tune in live to hockeytv.com
