Runners look to Extend streak

Jan 3, 2020

The RoadRunners return to action at home this weekend to take on the Louisiana Drillers in a two game set Friday and Saturday.  The Runners are currently on a four game win streak including three wins at the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine MN.  Where coach Beavis’s squad defeated the Maine Wild 3-1, The Helena Bighorns 4-1 and the Milwaukee Power 4-0.  “We had a great trip to the 3HL showcase and the guy’s played well and stuck to the game plan for the most part.  Sometimes it’s hard to focus with the holiday break approaching but we stressed to our guys that the teams that haven’t checked out for break are the teams that will stand a better chance of winning.  It’s mostly psychological during this time of the year as players are eager to get back to friends and family but our players managed to remain focused and it paid off.”  states Runners coach Mike Beavis.

The Runners are looking to increase their winning streak this weekend and have added a few players to the mix during the break.  Forwards Ismael Valle,  Sam Tipton and most notably Defenseman  Michael Krupinski  who was acquired this week from Corpus Christi of the NAHL.  “We now have some depth in the line-up especially on the back end and are getting pretty solid up front as well.” States Runners coach Ryan Scheide

Over the past few weeks the team has been busy with concentrating on player promotion to both the NAHL and the College level of play.  The Runners have a few players with some decent college offers on the table and are looking to expand on that over the next two months.  Over the past few weeks Jaeger Reed saw game time in Odessa for the Jackalopes and Forward Jakub Uram was called up to Corpus Christi for the remainder of the season.  Yesterday net-minder Cole Garver was called up in an emergency back-up roll to the Jacks and will be in uniform this weekend VS the Lone Star Brahmas for Todd Watson’s team.

Game time tonight at “The Spirit Ice Arena” is set for 5:30 PM CST and tomorrows puck drop is scheduled for 6:15 PM CST.  Be sure to catch all the action live this weekend at “The Spirit Ice Arena” in Bryan / College Station, TX.  or online @  myhockeytv.com
