The Texas RoadRunners will head to Euless, TX. this weekend to face the Mid-Cities Stars at the Children’s Health Star Center-Euless. The Runners are coming off a split at home last weekend VS the Louisiana Drillers.
Louisiana 3 @ TX RoadRunners 4 – Trevor Borlace’s hat-trick and Jaeger Reed’s 31 stops set the pace as the RoadRunners sped past the Drillers 4-3 on Friday. Blake Elliott nabbed the other Texas marker, while Riley Sloane, Jacob Cummings and Ben Cope potted goals for the Drillers. Aaron Dickstein stopped 43 shots in the loss.
Louisiana 4 @ TX RoadRunners 2 – Ivan Matveev stole the show with a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help the Drillers avenge Friday’s loss with a 4-2 win over the RoadRunners. Shamil Khadizhalov and Jacob Cummings each scored as well to round out Louisiana’s offense, while Logan Bellar and Michael Krupniski netted for Texas. Daniel Sprague put up a wall in the Louisiana net with 43 saves, and Jaeger Reed showed out well for the RoadRunners with 44 of his own.
The Runners trail Mid Cities for the 4th and final playoff in the South division by only two points and will look to try and overtake their divisional rivals this weekend. The Runners were on a five game win streak going into last Saturdays game before dropping a very close game to Louisiana. “We were actually playing well over the past six games and I don’t feel we played bad on Saturday. We just didn’t capitalize on our power play opportunities and that cost us the win.” states Runners coach Mike Beavis. The Runners and Drillers are dead even in their seasonal match up so far in 2019-2020 and will meet for two more games in the final weekend of the regular season in Bryan / College Station.
The staff and players both feel that they can over-take Mid cities for the final playoff spot in the South and are looking to do just that this weekend.
