Runners add Size to line-up

Nov 21, 2019

The Runners have added some much needed size and depth to their line-up for the second half of the season.   Player representative Miroslav Semjan who works with Runners Defenseman Tadeas Vicha and Odessa Jackalopes Jan Blasko has added Defenseman Jakub Kovacka from Zilina Slovakia and Forward Petr Pokorny from Czech Rep.   Kovacka the 2001 year old birth year player is a tough gritty defenseman that has a very heavy shot will strengthen the Runners back end.  At 6’3″ 222 lbs will be a force to recon with while Pororny at 6’9″ 239 will be an offensive threat every time he steps onto the ice.  “Both players bring a lot to the table with size and work ethic.  Petr has a pure lazer of a shot with one of the quickest releases I have seen in quite awhile and Jakub has just a cannon from up top. ” states Runners coach Mike Beavis

The two newest additions have already arrived in town and have skated with the team all week in preparation for this weekends trip to Lafayette  Louisiana to face the Drillers in a three game set.

The two newest players join Tadeas Vicha on the squad.  Vicha who was sent to the Runners from the Odessa Jacks at the beginning of the season has been working hard on a few things and has been already rewarded with a call up to skate with the Corpus Christi IceRays and should be looking at a return visit to Corpus and or Odessa in the near future.  Vicha the 6’4″ 220 lb player from Opava Czech Rep. Has been a solid addition for the team this season.

It should be interesting to see what impact the additions to the Runners will have this weekend against the third place Drillers as the Runners try to catch the last playoff spot trailing Mid-Cities by five points in the standings.  This weekends games will be at 4 PM Saturday and Sunday and puck drop Monday evening is scheduled for 7 PM.  be sure to catch all the action live on hockeytv.com
