RoadRunners Prepare to get Rolling

Aug 17, 2019

The RoadRunners staff have been busy of late setting up to begin training camp.  The team will hit the ice on Tuesday September 3rd at the “Spirit Ice Arena” in College Station, TX.

The coaching staff is now settled into their office and have begun to re-work the locker room as well as had the chance to meet with the rink staff and excited fans over the past few days.  Players will begin to arrive next weekend and will all be in town by Labor Day to be settled into their homes for the season.

Coach Beavis will spend some time next week with Al Rooney and his staff of the Corpus Christi Ice-Rays of the NAHL as the Rays will be in College Station to hold their training camp for eighteen days beginning this Monday.   “We are working hard to set up some relationships with other NAHL teams this season and even though we are linked to Odessa through our ownership group it’s important to network and have relationships with a few programs, so to help out Al and his staff over the next few weeks will be a good thing for both organizations.” states RoadRunners coach Mike Beavis.

Beavis will also head to Odessa on August 24th to work with Todd Watson’s staff at Odessa’s training camp.  “Todd and I have been leaning on each other quite a bit for support as we have both been given the opportunity to overhaul our programs this season. It’s a tough thing to leave family and friends and move across the country to work and we are more or less counting on each other almost daily for that support. ” added Beavis

Beavis who is from Upstate NY. and Watson who resides with his family in Michigan will both have an adjustment to make with their new living arrangements in their respectful communities while being away from their families for the hockey season.

Both Beavis and Watson are looking forward to getting their respective programs going this season.  The two are also working to create a very strong relationship between the NA3HL team in College Station and the parent club in Odessa going forward and look to generate a lot of  potential opportunities for players in the near future.

The team is still looking for interested Billet (Host) families for this season and interested parties should reach out to head coach Mike Beavis at:
