Roadrunners Land Kyle Portlock for 2021-2022

Aug 26, 2021

The Roadrunners are excited to land high end forward Kyle Portlock for the 2021-2022 season.  Portlock, from Sault Ste. Marie, MI is an impressive player at 6’2″ 210lbs.  “I was contacted a couple months back by Kevin Krogol Head Coach at Morrisville State Univ.  NCAA D lll) about Kyle.  He had moved to Texas awhile back and spent last season in the Soo with the Eagles in the NOJHL and was looking for a place to play this year.” states Coach Mike Beavis

Beavis went onto say that he was very impressed with Portlock at Odessa’s main camp last month and offered him an opportunity to potentially get up to the NAHL as well as to play at the NCAA level.  “He has skill, no doubt there and will be a huge addition to our team and line-up this fall.  I know Coach Beavis has been speaking with Morrisville about him as well as with Scott Deur in Odessa and we feel that he could be a guy that may see some time in the NAHL this season and could very well land an NCAA school this year.” states assistant coach Caleb Fitzpatrick.

The team went onto say that although the recent addition is predominantly a forward he has also spent time back on defense which could be an even bigger positive for special teams and situations where another defenseman could be needed during the season.

Portlock will join his teammates on September 6th for the start of training camp and the regular season which kicks off on Friday September 17th at the “Spirit Ice Arena” in Bryan College Station, Tx.  Where the Roadrunners will faceoff against the Mid Cities Jr.  Stars.
