RoadRunners Hit the Ice

Sep 3, 2019

The Texas RoadRunners opened training camp this morning at the Spirit Ice Arena in Bryan College Station, TX.    The team hit the ice for the first time as a group and quickly shed the rust off their blades as the coaching staff put them through a very tough two and two schedule on day one.  “We like to know where we stand right from the get go with the guys” states coach Mike Beavis  The team was put through an intense conditioning regiment both on and off the ice, including some base line off ice testing to get a good feel for the progression that will be sure to come.   “I think coming into this season some of the guys were not sure what to expect with a full change in the program but after hearing and seeing the reaction of the guys today, I think they were all on the same page knowing that big things are in store  for this program going forward.” added coach Ryan Scheide.

The team will continue camp all this week beginning at 6:45 am and running till about 3:00 pm on some days and 5:30 PM on triple on ice sessions on Thursday and Saturday.  “Camp is definitely not a walk in the park but at the same time guys are rewarded for hard work as well. stated Scheide.  Players leaving the rink today were looking for some rest and a bit of a quick break before getting back to it tomorrow morning.

The team will work over this week and next week to prepare for the season opening weekend VS division rivals the “Atlanta Capitals” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 13th -15th at the “Spirit Ice Arena”  Tickets for the home opener can be purchased at the Ice Arena Box Office.   Come out and catch Bryan College Stations newest hockey team, The “Texas Roadrunners” and be part of a new era.
