RoadRunners get set for opening of Training Camp

Aug 25, 2023

The Texas RoadRunners of the NA3HL are set to begin the 2023-2024 season with the opening of their training camp that will begin Monday September 4th at 8 AM.  The Runners are looking to pick up where they left off last season and solidify themselves as a top contender for the Fraser Cup.  The team is coming off of it’s best season in franchise history going 35-9-3 and clinching the South Division regular season Championship before falling short in the semi finals of the South division playoffs.

Notable highlights of the past season were the fast start at the beginning of the season and securing first place going into the Blaine Showcase in December.  The Runners stunned the entire league when they upset the eventual Fraser cup Champion Granite City Lumberjacks on the first day of the league showcase with Captain Jack Herron scoring the game winner with less than two seconds left in the game.  The first place seeding at the mid point also lead to the RoadRunners getting five picks to attend the Top Prospects tournament in Pittsburgh PA.  Where HC Mike Beavis lead the team to victory in both of the South division games at the event. But, most importantly the Runners also place near the top of the league with college commitments this past season with four NCAA D-3 commitments.  Hunter Hein SUNY Cortland, Eitan Geralnik Stevenson  and Tyler Love and Jack Herron New England College.  They also sent Derek Boutin to SUNY Oswego ACHA D-1 where he will have the opportunity to impress some of the NCAA D-3 coaches during his rookie season.  NA3HL Rookie of the year Matvey Ivanov was tendered and has made the initial roster for the Odessa Jackalopes in the NAHL for 2023-2024.  Ivanov had an astounding 39 goals and 46 assists in 45 games with the Roadrunners and is looking to take his game to the next level this season in the NAHL.

The RoadRunners will have thirteen returning players back in the line-up this year and have added some very high end players to the mix for this season.  “I am very excited about our team this season and can’t wait to see where these guys will take us.  We have some exciting new players as well as a solid core of returning guys that I believe will gel together for sure.  Training camp will be a short but grueling one due to a last minute scheduling change but it will also allow us for an early off weekend to finish up any loose ends before our second weekend of games.  I know the guys are pumped to get things going and we have created quite a buzz in the community so I would say to everyone… Buckle up as this could be a very exciting ride!”  States GM / Head Coach Mike Beavis

The RoadRunners will begin to introduce their team over the next couple weeks beginning with their tenders and draft picks moving onto the returning group from last season.
