May 11, 2021

The Texas RoadRunners are proud to announce that Derek Boutin and Hunter Hein have both signed NAHL tenders with the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL.  Both players joined the team last season as rookies in the NA3HL.
Hein was the top goaltender with the Runners before sustaining a hip labral tear that sidelined him for a good part of this past season.  “Hunter is a very good goaltender and I think he will be part of Odessa’s future but may spend some time rehabbing to game form with us at the beginning of this next season.” States Head Coach Mike Beavis
Boutin was an impact player and leading points guy with the Runners this season 33 points in 35 games and was a huge part of the Runners special teams play.  “Derek could be a kid that will see time in Odessa providing that he has a great main camp.  The opportunity is there and he knows it’s time to step up his game.”  Added Beavis
