Portlock Returns to Runners

Aug 19, 2022

Kyle Portlock originally from Sault Ste Marie, MI currently residing in Conroe, TX has rejoined the team for the 2022-2023 season.  Portlock the 20 year old forward at 6’2 195 lbs had 11 goals and 26 assists last season with the RoadRunners and spent quite a bit of time playing defense for the team.  “Kyle was a great addition last year coming from the Soo Eagles in the NOJHL.  He has some D-lll college interest but has decided to enter the Fire training academy after this coming season.  We look at Kyle as one of our leaders even though he is currently not wearing a letter he most certainly leads by example on the ice.” states Coach Mike Beavis

Portlock will be counted on in key situations this season both on the special teams and even strength.  Beavis went onto say that Portlock’s vision and skill level will be huge to this years squad making a run at the division title and onto the Fraser Cup.

With just a bit over two weeks until the Runners kick off training camp we will continue to announce the returning players for this seasons team leading up to opening night at “Spirit Ice Arena” when the Runners will host the Austin Ice Bats both Friday September 16th and Saturday September 17th at 7:30 PM.
