Payson Returns to Runners as Assistant Captain

Aug 28, 2020

Assistant Captain Seth Payson has re-signed with the RoadRunners for the 2020-2021 season.  But first the 19 year old from Albuquerque, NM.  will attend training camp with the NAHL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves.  Payson’s chances in the NAHL may be quite realistic this season and the RoadRunners staff is all pulling for him to stick in the NAHL.

Payson at 6′  165 is a forward that was used in all aspects of the game for the runners last season from PP to PK and from center to wing.  “Seth is a guy that works hard day in and day out.  He understands the systems and is a guy that will do what is asked of him to help the team.”  States Runners Coach Mike Beavis.

Payson last season had 23 points in 38 games with 7 goals and 16 assists.  The Runners are hoping for him to improve on those numbers this season with hopes they can help him move onto the NAHL or College hockey in the near future.

Depending on the Ice Wolves camp dates the Runners could see Payson at training camp with them on September 14th before departing to New Mexico to compete for a spot with the NAHL club.

It all begins for the RoadRunners Monday September 14th at the “Spirit Ice Arena” in Bryan / College Station,  TX.

The RoadRunners are still searching for 2-3 more Billet families for the upcoming season as they will be adding a couple more players when the NAHL camps cut rosters in October.  Interested host families or individuals should contact:  Head Coach Mike Beavis @ mbeavis@roadrunnershockey.com  or by phone @  315-297-6520
