Opalacz back in Net for Runners

Aug 26, 2022

Alex Opalacz has rejoined the team for the 2022-2023 season after a great finish to his rookie year.  Opalacz posted a record of 8-4 in 12 starts for the Runners last season with a 2.17 GAA and a .932 SV% along with 2 shutouts.  “Oppie really stepped up his game in the second half of the season and his teammates got behind him for his efforts.  He had a bit of a slow start then after a conversation or two he told us he was not going to settle for being the number 3 or even 2 and really made the push both in practice and in his games.  I am hoping to see that determination and level of play continue right from the start this season.” stated Coach Beavis

Sources say that Opalacz, the 6′ 210 19 year old from Cypress, TX.  Has been working very hard this off season and is more than determined to add to his impressive numbers from 2021-2022.  ” I spoke with a few people in the Houston area and they did nothing but rant and rave about the hard work Alex has been putting in and it showed at the Odessa Jackalopes main camp last month.  He looks ready to go for sure!” added Beavis

Opalacz will have some stiff competition in net this season with the addition of rookie Jimmy Packee and the return of Nash Wilson.  Hunter Hein may also be in the mix depending on his upcoming training camp performance with Odessa (NAHL).  It will be interesting to say the least in goal for the Runners for 2022-2023.
