Neckar and Hein Called up to Odessa NAHL

Dec 31, 2021

Defenseman Ty Neckar and Goaltender Hunter Hein have been called up to the Runners parent club in Odessa.  Jackalopes head coach Scott Deur spoke with Runners  coach Mike Beavis last week about bringing up Neckar for a stint with the Jacks.  Neckar, the 18 year old from Tampa, FL has appeared in all 21 games this season for the Runners and has tallied 3 goals and 11 assists.  “Ty is a great kid and is one of the purest skaters I have seen in a long time.  He can be physical and sees the ice well.  This season has been a developmental one for sure and this is his second time working with Scotty and the Jacks.  Scott called me and asked about how Ty was progressing and I assured him that he could hold his own.  The Jacks needed an extra defenseman for a bit and we were more than willing to provide the help and opportunity for our guy.” stated Mike Beavis

Beavis then went onto say that the Jacks may also need a goaltender for a bit as one of his guys may be flight delayed getting back into town due to weather and delays.  ” A couple days later Scott asked if we would lend him Hunter Hein to work out with the team for the week and see where that may lead for the future.” added Beavis.   Hein was an Odessa tender this season but couldn’t crack the roster for the parent club but has been absolutely outstanding with the Runners. in 12 appearances this season Hein has posted an impressive 10-1-1 record with a 1.51gaa and .953 sv% with 3 shutouts.  Hein has also skated with the Maryland Black Bears this season and should be a player that sees time next season in the NAHL.  ” Hunter is having a great season and is one of the reasons that we are sitting in one of the top spots in the South.” added Beavis

Beavis went onto say that Hein has a great attitude and work ethic both on and off the ice and also has some NCAA interest for next season but wants to see what the NA3HL to NAHL ladder of development may have to offer for now.

Neckar and Hein were thankful for the opportunity to show the parent club what they can contribute for now and in the future and both hope to land a spot with the Jackalopes next season if not sooner.  Both players could be suited up with Odessa tonight as they faceoff against the El Paso Rhinos @ the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, TX.  Game time is 7:15PM and is available on Hockeytv.com

The Roadrunners would like to congratulate and send all the best to their two players with their time spent in Odessa.
