Jr. Coyotes Captain Lautz Drafted by Runners

May 29, 2020

The Texas RoadRunners selected Anthony Lautz from Tucson AZ as the 6th overall pick of the 2020 NA3HL draft.  Lautz the 6’1 165 lb former captain of the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U16 Program should make a big splash with the Runners this year after posting 24 goals and 12 assists in 24 games last season.

“I had great conversations with Anthony and his dad Karl over a period of a couple weeks before the draft and we felt confident enough in what we were hearing that we decided to use our first pick of the draft on Anthony.” states Runners Coach Mike Beavis

Lautz is only 17 which is great for not only Anthony but for the RodaRunners and their NAHL parent club the Odessa Jackalopes. “We have Anthony attending Jacks main camp this summer and that will give everyone a good idea of where he will fit into the system as our main goal here in the 3HL is to develop and promote through our ladder of development system.” added Beavis

When asked about his goals for this season Lautz said,  I am humbled to be drafted 6th overall and very excited for the opportunity to begin my junior career from the RoadRunners through the NAHL and onto the college level of play.  I am looking to be an impact player with the RoadRunners and earn my chances in Odessa while at the same time helping add to the success of our organization.”

Humble indeed, is how coach Beavis reacted to the young forwards words.  “This is a kid that will do big things, he expresses himself well and carries himself as a young adult focused on hard work, dedication, development and first and foremost his academics. added Beavis

Make sure to check back often as the Runners will be featuring the remaining Tenders, Drafts and re-signings over the next few weeks as they gear up for what they feel will be one of the biggest seasons ever in Bryan / College Station.
