Hunter Houle back in net for Roadrunners

Aug 22, 2024

Hunter Houle will be back in net this season for the Roadrunners.  The 19 year old from Durango, CO.  Will be entering his last season of junior hockey and the Roadrunners are hoping that he will be injury free for season two with the team.  Last season Houle, had an off ice ankle injury that sidelined him for a good part of the season and only allowed him to see action five starts.  In those five games he went 2-2-1 with a 2.13 GAA and a .928 SV%

“Hunter had a bit of a tough break last season and has worked hard to regain his form and get back at it.  I know he has been working hard during the off season and I feel confident that he will be ready to go come opening night.  States Assistant Coach Sam Romutis.

The Runners staff had high hopes for Houle last season and thought he was for sure in the running to be their number one.  Coach Beavis was most excited about the netminder coming into last season.  “Hunter played for me at the St.  Louis combine before last season and he was just lights out and for the most part won his team games.  This is what you always hope to find in a goaltender.  Hopefully he gets back to that level and finishes strong this coming season and we can help him reach is dreams of playing College Hockey.” added Beavis

Houle had a bit of a stint last season with the parent club in Odessa (NAHL) as he was called upon to back up for a time with the Jackalopes.  Although he didn’t see any game time during his time in Odessa was a very positive and humbling experience.

The Runners are excited to say the least about their goaltender situation this season and it will be interesting to see how they will all perform come game time. With three netminders all looking to be number one it is a good situation for the Roadrunners to say the least.
