The RoadRunners are excited to have signed Jr.Coyotes netminder Hunter Hein for the 2020-2021 season. Hein, from Phoenix. AZ. will be huge for the Runners this season,”literally” at 6’5″ 185 the 2003 goaltender will likely impress several NAHL teams. But, before he will report to Bryan / College Station and the RoadRunners he has been selected to report to Odessa for the NAHL affiliate Jackalopes training camp. “As an 03 he will have a great opportunity within our system and he impressed a lot of folks at the Jacks Main Camp a few weeks back and I think they see him as a possible NAHL goaltender in the future.” states coach Mike Beavis.
Hein helped the 16 U Jr. Coyotes to a 50-11-3 record last season posting a .921 save percentage and a 1.45 goals against while posting 10 shutouts and chipping in 3 assists.
“I am ecstatic to be a part of the Texas RoadRunners and I hope to make an immediate positive impact on the team.” states Hein. The young goaltender aspires to be an NCAA division 1 player and is excited to pursue that goal through the NAHL ladder of development.
Hein will report to Odessa for training camp before the possibility of him reporting to the Roadrunners which will be beginning their own training camp September 14th at the “Spirit Ice Arena in Bryan / College Station. “Hopefully Hunter has a great camp with Odessa and sticks with the parent club but if not he will have a spot with us for sure. Our goal is to identify, develop and promote our players onto the NAHL and or the College level of play and opportunities are what we help create for our players.” added Beavis.
The RoadRunners will begin the 2020-2021 season with a ten day training camp beginning on September 14th and kick off the regular season October 2nd. The team is still looking for a few billet families for this season.
