Garrett Wilderman returns to Runners as Captain

Sep 11, 2020

Captain Garrett Wilderman will return to lead the Runners for 2020-2021 beginning on September 14th when his team hits the ice for training camp.

Wilderman, the 18 year old from Waukesha, WI.  was impressive last season putting up 39 pts. (22G /17A) in 46 games with the Runners and earning Top prospects honors as well as NA3HL South Division Rookie of the year and 2nd team all star.  Wilderman also played in 9 games for the parent club the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL and was selected in the 2020-2021 NAHL Draft by Odessa.

Wilderman will begin his season in Bryan / College Station  before reporting to Odessa’s training camp in late September.  “Garrett is a solid kid both on and off the ice.  He plays with an edge and should do well in Odessa.  Hopefully he sticks with the parent club but if not we will be very happy to have him back with us.” states Runners coach Mike Beavis.

Beavis also went on to say that he sees Wilderman as a solid D-lll player that with continued development could get quite a bit of interest at the NCAA levels of play.

It will be interesting to see how things play out for the Runners captain this season as well as his team as there has been a ton of excitement this pre-season on the squad that Beavis and his staff have assembled.

It all begins Monday morning September 14th at the “Spirit Ice Arena” with training camp leading up to the start of the 2020-2021 season in early October.
