Boutin Begins 2021-2022 with Odessa Jackalopes NAHL

Aug 31, 2021

Derek Boutin has begun the climb to the NAHL.  Boutin, last seasons leading scorer for the RoadRunners is currently in attendance at the Odessa Jackalopes NAHL training camp.  Boutin, the 19year old from Chicopee, MA.  appeared in 35 games with the Runners last season and had 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.  At 6′ 200lbs Boutin is a typical power forward that creates opportunities using both his strength and speed.

“PC (Prince Charming, as his teammates refer to him as) is just a great kid !  He works hard day in and day out and just fits well in our locker room.  Last season Odessa tendered him and he had a decent main camp with them and was brought onto main camp to begin the season.  Hopefully he sticks… We will miss him for sure but player development and advancement is the main goal for us.” states Coach Mike Beavis

Boutin joins Runners teammate goaltender Hunter Hein at Odessa camp as both were tendered for this past season by the parent club.  Odessa began camp this past Saturday and will begin the process of assembling this seasons roster to kick off the season at the NAHL Blaine showcase in Minnesota.  The showcase will be held September 15th – 18th  at the Super Rink in Blaine, MN.  Each team will play four regular season games at the event.  The Jackalopes will kick off their season VS the Chippewa Steel on September 15th.

Over the next week the Roadrunners will continue to re-introduce their returning players as well as feature this seasons Captains as they prepare for the start of this seasons training camp that begins September 6th @ “Spirit Ice Arena” in Bryan / College Station, Texas.
