Billet Appreciation Day !

Jun 5, 2023

On May 20th, the Texas RoadRunners honored their Billet families by hosting a cookout at the home of Jeannie and Mike Beavis in Navasota, TX.  Billet families are the heart and sole of most junior hockey programs and without them it would be very difficult to operate a successful team.  Players from all over the world move into town each season and host families provide a safe and family style living arrangement for those players while they are away from home. “I have been involved in billeting players for several years and have seen so many young men turn into adults.  The players need the same living situations that they have with their parents and we try and match each player with a billet family that closely matches that players own family.  It has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life.  To see billet moms get emotional when one of their boys leave and share the joy of their success with the players and parents is just heart warming.  Families become friends for life and the players bond with their billets is just amazing.”  States RoadRunners billet coordinator, Jeannie Beavis

The RoadRunners are very thankful for all their billet families do for the players each season and would like them all to know that they are our family.  This season the RoadRunners will be looking for two – three more families to add to our support staff for the players that will be coming to town this year in hopes of chasing their dreams of playing higher levels of hockey.
