Sunday Score:

TX RoadRunners 6 @ Austin 0– The RoadRunners picked up where they left off on Sunday afternoon and sealed the sweep on the road in Austin with a 6-0 shutout win for goaltender Jimmy Packee and his team.  Goal scorers for the RoadRunners were Brayden Bibby-2, Adrian Sanchez -1,  Ajay Johnson -1, Noah Easterson -1 and JT Brugaletta -1.

The RoadRunners have gotten off to a fast start in the first weekend of the NA3HL regular season and it’s a bit more impressive knowing that Coach Beavis and his squad have only been together since Labor day. “It was tough to try and cover as much as possible with our systems as well as try to get guys in physical shape quickly and carefully in such a short five days.  We had to be careful not to over do things that could cause injuries or fatigue over the weekends games.  I am happy by the way we played given the circumstances but we have a ton to do systematically and we need some time to get some chemistry between the guys.  All in all I am happy with the way we played two games of a full sixty minute effort in each.”  Stated Coach Mike Beavis

Friday’s win notched the first junior hockey coaching victory for head coach Sam Romutis who is in his first season with the RoadRunners.  The team will hit the ice this week to get up to speed on systems and enjoy an early season off weekend this week as well.  They will hold an annual pot luck event at the home of Dalene and Chris Barnes on Sunday afternoon with Billets, players and families all being invited.

The RoadRunners will travel back top Austin for games on Friday September 22nd  and 23rd before opening up at home hosting the Louisiana Drillers for a three game set on September 29th, 30th and October 1st.
